On your study record you'll find a list of all the qualifications and courses you've studied or are studying. Distance learning can open up opportunities for study. You might have not studied for a while, you might be returning to education, or you might not have had the chance to study at a higher level before.
You'll find links to the Students Association here and details of OU news and upcoming events. Through partnerships with leading providers of online education, the DWP are promoting resources that will benefit learners everywhere. They have selected these OpenLearn courses to enhance your digital and employability skills, so you can prepare more effectively to achieve your career aspirations. There are also courses to help you improve your functional English and Mathematics skills. Making the decision to study can be a big step, which is why you’ll want a trusted University.
Funding your studies
The screenshot shows the 'Studenthome' page with the 'Tools' section highlighted. The next heading is ‘Tools’ where you’ll find access to useful tools such as Office365, if available to you. There are also quick links to ‘Your tutorials and study events’ where you can book on to tutorials and for ‘Your student loan’ page if this is how you’ve chosen to pay. The 'Community' link takes you to the central page for the Open University community. This is the social side of the University where you can engage with the whole University, not just your fellow students on your module.
The 'Choose your modules' link is where you'll go to register on your next module. You'll be prompted to do this as soon as you come to the end of your current module . StudentHome is available to all registered OU students. It’s your personal page that contains all the links and information you’ll need in your learning journey with the OU. The Department for Work & Pensions has partnered with The Open University to offer free training tools designed to help people find a job, advance their career or grow their business. Add the detail you feel comfortable with to the profile and then select the level of visibility for your profile and email address. In the third column on the homepage under the heading ‘How do I’ you will find links to specific useful information in the Help Centre. Back to the homepage, the first column provides a range of useful links under the headings 'Profile', 'Tools', 'Services', and 'Links'.
It’s well worth taking a few minutes to read through it for each of the modules you’re studying. If you’re a student in England, Wales or Northern Ireland you’ll see a link to ‘Your student loan’ if this is how you’ve chosen to pay for your studies. Here you'll find information about your loan and you can check the status of an existing application. Returning back to the homepage and the link to ‘Choose your modules’ is for when you’re ready to select your next module to study.
You’ll also receive prompts to do this when registration opens for the next academic year. On the homepage, the central column focuses on your qualifications and modules. The title at the top will usually be the name of your current qualification or will say ‘Modules’ if you’re not studying towards a qualification.
